Coming back from Mexico two weeks ago we had a lay-over in Philadelphia. Upon landing we had to go to customs, get our luggage, and pass through 2 more security booths. Getting through all the security took over 2 hours! Philadelphia airport is a mess and hopefully I never have another lay-over in Philadelphia.
Once landing back in New York City we discovered our luggage didn’t make the journey. Needless to say, we had to file claims, and a few days later they found it and delivered. I thought to myself, ok, so this is the once a year issue I generally have with airlines messing my luggage transfer up.
Last week, I had to go to San Jose, California for a week conference in the Silicon Valley. After sitting at Newark Airport for over 2 hours they announce my flight is cancelled. It’s Sunday, after 5:00pm and they have no direct flights to San Jose. After running around Newark and working with every Continental customer service representative I could find they put my on a flight to Vegas, with a lay-over and they will transfer me to US Airways, arriving around 3am EST on Monday, with the conference starting at 7am PST Monday. I take it!
I land in Vegas and inquire about my terminal transfer to hop on US Airways. I also ask them to track my luggage just to make sure it made my new flight. To my dismay, it was on the wrong flight on its way to Texas. They say I will not have it until Monday or Tuesday. Just my luck, I’ll have no luggage for my conference.
The only thing I could do was to scramble around Las Vegas airport to buy an outfit. Thank goodness for a PGA Tour Golf shop that was open and had dress pants and dress shirts. I put together an outfit and hit Hudson news to get toothpaste and everything else I would need.
It’s hard to believe two weeks in a row my luggage was lost, found, and delivered to me late! I surely hope it doesn’t anymore this year!
