What type of tree is this?

Mystery solved! It is a Princess Tree

Update: With the help of others I was able to discovery this tree is called a Princess Tree. Click here to learn more about it.

As long as I have owned Blue Mountain Oasis, our rental cabin in Front Royal, I've had to combat a very aggressive and fast growing tree. Each year I probably take 5 of them down. They are very flexible, have giant leaves, and when bad storms come they sag and really cause a headache around the house.

For the life of me I don't know what kind of tree this is. Yesterday I took some down that were at the back of the property that I let grow for about 3 years. They were at least 50 feet high!

Help me identify this! I am curious. I've attached a few photos.

The most interesting part is the inside, which is hollow and runs from top to bottom and inside of all branches.

Have a peek and let me know what it is, if you know :)

Project Hillside

I was making some updates on our home improvement website, Project Hillside and thought I would make a quick blurb about it on my blog. We've had the house for 1 year and 6 months. The kitchen is 100% done (well, still waiting to find the counter tops of our dreams and replace the temporary ones)the sunroom, living room, and dining room are 100% complete.

Project Hillside is fully functional and we've enjoyed hosting parties with our friends and family and enjoying the background improvements. I am in love with the hot tub and couldn't ask for a better weekend vacation!

Thank you everyone for your support on this project and kind words. It is a very hard project and we are learning a lot along the way. Be sure to checkout the website for updates on the project.

Happy Birthday Project Hillside

This month marks the 1 year anniversary of me swinging a hammer at Project Hillside. The progress on our home remodel is amazing. Nothing beats sitting in the hot tub with a nice glass of wine looking at a house that we are solely fixing up, ourselves. Be sure to check-out the 1 year update: http://projecthillside.com/content/project-hillside-happy-birthday
